House prices remained steady in Maldon in February, latest figures show.
The lack of movement maintains the longer-term trend, which has seen property prices in the area achieve 11.8 per cent annual growth.
The average Maldon house price in February was £430,619, Land Registry figures show – largely unchanged from January.
The picture was similar to that across the East of England, where prices decreased 0.1 per cent, and Maldon outperformed the one per cent drop for the UK as a whole.
Over the last year, the average sale price of property in Maldon rose by £45,000.
Winners and Losers
Owners of terraced houses fared worst in Maldon in February – they dropped 0.5 per cent in price, to £290,267 on average. But over the last year, prices rose by 11.2 per cent.
Among other types of property
- Detached: up 0.3 per cent monthly and up 12.3 per cent annually to £636,536 on average.
- Semi-detached: down 0.3 per cent monthly and up 12 per cent annually to £389,606.
- Flats: down 0.2 per cent monthly; up 8.5 per cent annually to £181,814.
First steps on the property ladder
First-time buyers in Maldon spent an average of £326,000 on their property – £34,000 more than a year ago, and £68,000 more than in February 2018.
