A SHOP is hosting a huge coronation celebration to raise funds to keep the shop going.
The Purleigh Community Shop is hosting a big coronation celebration lunch at Purleigh Cricket Club in Howe Green Road.
The community shop in Church Hill, Purleigh, is completely run by volunteers and all funds raised by the event will help keep the shop open.
There will be a bar serving tea, coffee and alcohol, which includes a barrel of beer donated by the Mighty Oak Brewery.
There will also be a barbecue serving hot dogs and burgers.
Shop manager Sally Harris said: “We are a community shop, run by volunteers.
“We hold coffee mornings and have a library van once every three weeks, it really is the hub of the community.
“Lots of retailers have donated bits and pieces and there will be a raffle too.
“Loads of cakes have also been donated by the village.
“The Women’s Institute will be there on the day and there will be live music from Asha Louise Music, who is a talented singer.”
She added: “We are desperate to keep the village shop open.
“It is a properly stocked little store. We try to use local traders, which includes meat from the Secret Butchers in Burnham.
“We support local businesses and it’s a place where a lot of elderly people call in.”
The event is on Sunday, May 7, from 12pm to 4pm.
