DIY sailors in Heybridge have taken it upon themselves to revamp their much-loved clubhouse after almost half a century.
Saltcote Sailing Clubhouse, constructed in 1975 by devoted members for a mere £569 in materials, has finally received a much-needed makeover.
Under the guidance of club bosun Colin Jupp, the renovation project has breathed new life into the clubhouse, offering sailors a welcoming and comfortable space to gather.

He said: "Our new cladding, new windows and kitchen make this a welcoming and comfortable base for all our sailors.
"Many of our members helped out and gave their time and skills."
With the support of numerous members who generously volunteered their time and skills, the project has been hailed a resounding success.
The restoration efforts extended beyond the clubhouse itself.

The sailors dedicated themselves to rejuvenating the club's historic pontoon, which holds historical significance, dating back to the First World War.
Saltcote Sailing Club caters for sailors of all experience levels and has become a cherished hub for sailing enthusiasts.
Based on Goldhanger Road, the clubhouse boasts panoramic views across the Blackwater.
