SIX fire crews worked to tackle a large field fire in a mid Essex village.
Crews from Maldon, Chelmsford, Witham, Burnham, Hawkwell and Stansted were called to a field fire in Woodham Walter on Friday, June 7.
Firefighters arrived at about 5.30pm and worked hard to contain and extinguish the fire which when they arrived, was rapidly spreading across the field.
The field had just been harvested so was very dry and the fire spread quickly through the cut stubble.
Firefighters surrounded the fire to ensure the fire didn't spread to homes and buildings nearby.
The fire was extinguished the fire by 7.30pm, with the cause recorded as accidental.
