HUNDREDS of participants took part in a fun five-kilometre obstacle course to raise money for charity in Maldon.
More than 450 people took part in the splash-out challenge for Farleigh Hospice in Promenade Park.
Organisers believe the event raised around £15,000 for the hospice.
The hospice is a charity providing award-winning care, free of charge, to people affected by life-limiting illnesses and bereavement across mid-Essex.
Many participants dressed in brightly coloured Farleigh t-shirts and tutus for the event.
There were ten water-based obstacles including a pit of floating balls and some floating stepping stones.
Everyone who crossed the finish line was given a medal and a refillable water bottle donated by event sponsor Chandler Materials.
Bruna Malone was there with son Charlie, aged six. She said: “It’s the first time that we’ve done something like this and it was lots of fun - it’s a nice family event.”
Charlie said: “I liked the stepping stones – I pushed my mum in.”
Claire Lancaster was among a group of 23 people taking part and raising money for Farleigh in memory of Craig Eldret.
She said: “We have raised more than £2,000 at Splash Out! and other events, because it is a really important cause.”
Another participant, Daniel Green, said: “I have a relative who was cared for by Farleigh so I know it’s a good charity to support. We’ve been collecting sponsorship and raised £200.”
Hospice fundraising manager Debbie de Boltz said: “It was Farleigh’s first ever Splash Out so thank you to everyone who took part and made it such a brilliant, enjoyable event.
“We are grateful to our sponsors, Chandler Materials, and everyone who collected sponsorship and hope to have raised about £15,000.
“Farleigh Hospice is a charity and we rely on the money raised from events like this so we can be there to help everyone we care for to live as actively as possible from their diagnosis to the end of their life.
“Our next big event is our popular Cycle for Life bike ride which returns for the 25th time on Sunday, September 17. Please pump up your tyres and join us.”
