A MAN has been taken to hospital and a main road is closed following an accident this afternoon.
The B1021 Station Road is closed in both directions from the B1010 Maldon Road to Hillside Road.
Emergency services attended the scene of a single vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, and a man was taken to hospital following the crash.
Delays can be expected in the area and traffic is building.
Anyone with information is being asked to get in contact with police to assist them with their investigation.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We’re on the scene of a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle, which took place in Church Road, Burnham, shortly after 3.30pm today.
"A road closure was put in place whilst emergency services dealt with the incident and a man has been taken to hospital in a serious condition.
"We expect the road to be closed for the coming hours whilst investigative work is carried out.
"We need anyone who witnessed the incident to get in touch.

A spokesman for the AA said: “Road closed and queueing traffic due to crash on B1021 Station Road both ways from B1010 Maldon Road to Hillside Road. Sensors confirm the closure has been extended.”
