A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries and another two men have been taken to hospital following a crash in a main road.
A black Ford Fiesta and a white Vauxhall Vivaro van have been involved in a crash in Lower Burnham Road near Latchingdon. Emergency services were called this morning to reports of the collision involving two vehicles.
A woman has been taken to Kings College Hospital by air ambulance to be treated for serious injuries.
Two men have been transported by ambulance to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and Broomfield Hospital.
The road has remained closed for most of the day as emergency services have dealt with the incident.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 11.09am to a road traffic collision involving two vehicles on the Lower Burnham Road near Latchingdon.
“Three ambulances, two ambulance officer vehicles, two vehicles from the Hazardous Area Response Team, the East Anglian Air Ambulance, the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance and a car from the Essex Emergency Medical Charity, BASICS Essex, were sent to the scene.
“An adult woman was airlifted to Kings College Hospital to be treated for serious injuries, while two men were transported by road to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital and Broomfield Hospital respectively.”
In an appeal from Essex Police asking for witnesses to get in touch, a spokesman said: “If you have any information, CCTV, dash cam or other footage in relation to this incident, then please get in contact with us. Please quote incident 461 of 18 August.
