A POPULAR drama group will be collaborating with an orchestra for its latest production.
The Maldon Drama Group is beginning preparations for its upcoming production of Cable Street Blues.
The group will be collaborating with Maldon Orchestra, with all proceeds going to the David Randall Foundation.
The production is written and directed by Maldon Drama Group member, Pride of Maldon award winner and actor Neil Fisher.
Neil describes it as: “A story of the joys and sorrows of life between the wars in London’s East End, featuring music from the period.
“It features songs including Careless Love, The Charleston, St James' Infirmary, Brother Can You Spare a Dime, Sing, Sing, Sing and more.
“The story of ordinary lives lived in extraordinary times, the Roaring Twenties, the jazz age, the Great Depression and a slowly gathering storm, which will finally break ... in the Battle of Cable Street.”
The production will be held on Friday, October 20, and Saturday, October 21, at Plume Academy in Fambridge Road, Maldon.
