A VILLAGE pub which closed nearly two years ago has now been sold.
The Queen Victoria Pub in The Street at Woodham Walter has been sold on behalf of Essex-based pub company Gray and Sons.
The pub, which closed in January 2022, was sold for under £400,000 by property advisor Christie and Co.
The Queen Victoria is a large property featuring a public bar and lounge, plus a dining area for 30 people.
With a garden, car park and garage the advisers said: “There is room to extend the venue and create a popular food-led pub in this attractive area.”
Family-run Gray and Sons decided to sell the pub as it was felt it was time for entrepreneurial owners to breathe new life into the venue.
The group also sold another of their pubs, The Rose in Burnham, at the start of the year.
They currently operate an estate of 49 tenanted public houses across the county, with a focus on drink sales.
Specialist hospitality property adviser Christie and Co announced the sale of the pub.
Spokesman Liana Gatier said: “This was a great opportunity to acquire a closed freehold free house for under £400,000.
“Pubs in the Essex area always generate good interest and we wish the new owners well in their endeavours.”
