Almost £200,000 has been earmarked to improve infrastructure in Maldon.
Essex police commissioner Roger Hirst has announced funding of £189,123 will be awarded to the district.
The funding comes as part of the Safer Streets projects put forward by the Community Safety Partnership.
Maldon’s Promenade Park has been awarded £132,250 for a project which will see a variety of safety initiatives brought into place in preparation for a new skate ramp facility at the park.
This money will go to project management, design and installation, lighting, a youth shelter, CCTV, street art and a social space for girls.
A total of £40,873 has been awarded for CCTV installation and monitoring in Burnham.
The CCTV cameras are planned for the High Street, Quayside and Burnham railway station, and some of the funds will be used to create CCTV broadband to the Chelmsford CCTV management hub.
The CCTV will be installed in partnership with the town council.
Bosses at Maldon District Council are delighted by the funding announcement by the police commissioner.
Council leader Richard Siddall said: “I am really pleased that we have been successful in receiving funding for these initiatives which are aimed at making our district safer.”
In addition to these projects, a district-wide Women’s Safety Charter will be introduced to tackle violence against women and girls, and promote awareness of incidents, as well as encouraging changes in behaviour.
Police commissioner Roger Hirst said: “Safe and secure communities are the bedrock on which we build success, prosperity and well-being for all.
“I am delighted to allocate Local Safer Streets fund round two to improve the lighting, CCTV, install safety measures and support awareness campaigns in key hotspots across Essex.
“We aim for no person to feel unsafe in their community or in public, but we have a particular focus on the safety of women and girls.
"All these projects will build community safety in our county.”
