BOSSES at a book shop in Maldon are "over the moon" to be expanding the business into a neighbouring building.
Maldon Books is branching into the building next door, while expanding their offering and introducing vinyl records.
The shop currently occupies 23 Maldon High Street and the new expansion will see number 21 become part of the business.
A spokesman for Maldon Books said on social media: “We are over the moon to make our bookshop bigger for you.
“We'll be spreading our selection of books across both buildings, and the records will have their own room accessible from both the High Street and the bookshop.
“We'll have a broader range of books, more space for events and song, rhyme and story time sessions, and a little book nook in our fiction area.
“Things will be moving around over the next month, but we'll try to make sure this doesn't impact our opening hours for you.
“Hopefully, our renovations will be complete by mid-February, when we'll celebrate with a grand opening event with a special guest - stay tuned for updates.
“We are ever so thankful to our landlords for this amazing opportunity, and to our wonderful customers and community who have supported our shop from the beginning.
“We can't wait for this new adventure with you.”
Olivia Rosenthall, the owner of Maldon Books, told the Standard that the team were "thrilled" about this next step.
She said: "We're all thrilled to have this opportunity. Our customers and local community have been so good to us since we opened.
"The support has been amazing and we'll always be grateful.
"We're so excited to team up with Howard from Novel Sounds and offer new and second hand records.
"We'll have a bigger space for browsing, and a broader range of books. We can't wait for this new chapter."
Olivia also encouraged customers to stay up to date with Maldon Books, whether online or in person.
She added: "Please do follow along on our social media accounts to see our journey, or pop into the shop to say hello."
