A MEDITERRANEAN restaurant is celebrating after being handed a top food hygiene rating.
Sark Restaurant, in Maldon High Street, has secured a new five-out-of-five after an assessment by the Food Standards Agency.
The maximum score was given after an assessment on November 23.
It means that of Maldon's 104 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 75 - - 72 per cent - have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
Sark opened in 2017 and offers a huge variety of Turkish and Mediterranean main and meze dishes.
These include lamb and chicken skewers, casseroles, chops, kebabs, spicy house-cooked pots of meat and veg, plus seafood dishes.
It also has a separate cocktail bar overlooking the high street.
The restaurant has been popular since its opening and enjoyed success at the British Kebab Awards in 2022.
