AN independent micro-publishing house based in Maldon is bringing out a new novel.
Joe Chadwick founded Crescent Swan Publishing at the end of 2020 to publish debut novel The Briarmen.
After releasing the novel, Joe said it went on to become the best-ever selling independently published book at Maldon Books, located in the High Street.
A year later, the novel even became a #1 Amazon bestseller, with continued success in the UK, US, Australia, Canada, Germany and France, to name a few.
Crescent Swan is now publishing another novel, although this one is not written by Joe.
He said: “Early last year I decided I was ready to publish more work, and so put out a call for submissions, receiving far more than anticipated.
“From that, one submission stood out to me, and Crescent Swan picked up what would be its next book - Days of Long Shadows - a gritty and gripping crime novel with intriguing speculative elements, exploring class resentment and scrutinising state power through the lens of a regional crime novel.
“I worked on editing it throughout 2023, and it is due to be published on February 1.”
The Briarmen is set in the English countryside, with two young friends united by a shared secret when they discover and befriend four fantastical creatures in a forbidden woods.
Meanwhile, Days of Long Shadows is a gritty crime thriller, following the action after a torso surfaces in a Sheffield canal.
Tim Franks, who wrote Days of Long Shadows, is a retired headteacher from Wolverhampton.
The book will be available at Maldon Books in paperback, as well as both paperback and an e-book on Amazon.
