PLANS for a change of use to the lower floor of a Grade II listed building have been submitted to Maldon District Council.
The building, known as The Lodge, is currently used as a residential care home with 20 beds on the ground floor and four on the lower ground floor.
The building is situated at the end of Lodge Road in Maldon.
The proposals are to convert the lower ground floor into two separate, self-contained one-bedroom flats for the elderly and disabled.
They would have access to care from the care home.
If approved, the proposal would reduce the number of total beds to 20 in total.
The lower ground floor was previously converted by the current owner for elderly care beds in 2008.
Before that, the space was a self-contained, three-bedroom flat for the previous owners and staff.
The new flats would be designed for elderly and disabled occupiers with full mobility and easy access.
Maldon District Council will rule on the plans.
