TIME is running out for Maldon district residents to have their say in the ongoing public consultation discussing the future of St Peter’s Hospital.
The 150-year-old facility, formerly a workhouse, faces possible closure in a major NHS shake-up.
The consultation began on January 25 and will conclude on March 21, meaning just less than two weeks remain for residents to share their views.
By launching the consultation, the NHS is seeking the public’s views on proposals concerning the hospital’s future.
These include potential changes to where some community hospital intermediate care and stroke rehabilitation services are provided.
There is also the possibility of making permanent the temporary move of the midwife-led birthing unit at St Peter’s to the William Julien Courtauld Unit at St Michael’s Braintree.
There are also plans to move other patient services at St Peter’s Hospital elsewhere, mostly in and around the town.
In the weeks since the consultation began, events, meetings and protests have taken place across the district.
Here, residents have shared their views on the proposed changes moving forward.
The next upcoming public consultation event will be held on March 19 at Maldon Town Hall.
It will be running from 2pm to 7.45pm and will also be live streamed on YouTube for those who cannot attend in person.
