A SAILING club’s fundraising night brought in an impressive amount for a charitable cause.
The Blackwater Sailing Club held a family fun, friendly quiz and pizza night.
Organised by Julie Shelter, food for the evening was provided by Simon Shelter and Steve Webber.
Altogether, £1,000 was raised for Suffolk-based charity the Woolverstone Project.
The charity provides sailing opportunities and tuition for people with disabilities throughout the year at Alton Water and also during the summer months at Woolverstone on the River Orwell in Suffolk.
On behalf of Woolverstone Project, John Wilkinson said: “I would like to thank you for your contribution and to the kind donation we have received from your club.
“We have to raise about £25,000 per annum and are very appreciative of the support we receive from the sailing clubs of Suffolk and north Essex.
“I have sent an appreciation certificate for you to display at the club.”
Thanks were also given to Blackwater Sailing Club members who attended and helped raise the £1,000 sum.
