A LONG-STANDING village fete will go ahead this year after difficulties finding someone to run it.
There has been a village fete in Tolleshunt D’Arcy for about 60 years.
But this year there were challenges in finding someone willing to run the event.
Trish Heard, who ran last year’s fete and has been involved in some form for 50 years, stepped in to run this year’s event.
She said: “I couldn’t have run it without the volunteers and enthusiasm from the village.”
So far, 11 stalls, a fun fair, a dog show, refreshments, ice creams, a barbecue, bar and games have been organised.
However, there are some elements still needed, including stallholders who could sell items such as clothing and cottage crafts.
The event is in need of entertainment, a display for the arena and volunteers to help with the stalls and in the car park on the day.
The village fete will take place on Saturday, June 1, starting at 2pm.
It will be held on the recreation ground at the rear of the village hall in Tollesbury Road.
Takings from the fete will be split between Tolleshunt D’Arcy’s village hall and St Nicholas' Primary School.
The fete will be opened by the fete king or queen, who will be picked at an earlier event.
Anyone interested in helping out at the fete can call Trish on 07769 939923.
