Stow Maries – home of Europe's largest surviving First World War aerodrome – hosted another “smash” bank holiday Sunday event, despite weather predictions.
Hundreds of visitors attended 'Wings and Wheel’s which is a major fundraiser for Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, which boasts the largest collection of Royal Flying Corps buildings in the world.
The event was full of classic cars, including Aston Martins, Morgans, Morrison Minors, Corvettes and American hot-rods.
Vintage Fokker triplanes and Stampe biplanes from a “bygone era” were also on show, with new displays in the air for crowds to enjoy.
Essex-based Datum Attitude Brewery even created their latest extra pale ale - Stow Patrol - in celebration of the museum and its history.
Ian Flint, chief executive of Stow Maries Great War Aerodrome, said: “This event takes a lot of hard work from our staff and volunteers, but it all pays off.
“What a fantastic day. The cars look great, and with thrilling aircraft like the Cap 10 and XA42 wowing the crowd - I couldn’t be happier.”
Mr Flint added: “There were plenty of oohs and aahs at their performance, I can tell you."
