A school has been recognised as 'good' by Ofsted following a previous 'inadequate' rating in 2022.

Southminster Primary School was inspected by the education watchdog in May.

The report says: “Southminster is a happy and nurturing place to learn.

“Pupils behave well in lessons. They listen carefully to instructions and take ownership of their behaviour choices.”

Headteacher Wendy Woods said: “The entire school community is incredibly proud of this wonderful result.

"This achievement is due to the collaborative efforts of our teaching and support staff, governors, Vine Schools Trust and our entire school community.

“It has been rewarding to read the positive feedback shared in this latest report.

“As a school, we acknowledge our areas for continued improvement, and we remain committed to delivering a high standard of education to the pupils of Southminster.”

Emma Wigmore, chief exec of the Vine Schools Trust said: “We are overjoyed that Southminster C of E Primary School has achieved this fantastic outcome.

“This school has been judged as ‘requiring improvement’ or having ‘special measures’ since it opened almost 20 years ago.

"The school has never been judged better than 'inadequate' or 'requires improvement' in its history.

“We have supported Southminster through a long journey of improvement, and as a trust we are very proud of what has been achieved at the school since the last Ofsted inspection.

“A huge congratulations to the staff and children who clearly demonstrated to the inspector what a special school and community Southminster has.”

Southminster Primary is a Vine Schools Trust school. The Vine Schools Trust is a multi-academy trust based in Chelmsford and part of the Diocese of Chelmsford.

The trust currently supports 23 primary schools across the East of England.
