FIREFIGHTERS have issued a warning after two people who became stuck in the mud had to be rescued.
Over the weekend, firefighters from Maldon Fire Station travelled to the town's Promenade Park to help South Woodham Coastguard Rescue Team rescue two casualties who had become trapped in the mud.
Using specialist rescue sleds and mud rescue clothing, the coastguard was able to make contact with the casualties before bringing them safely back to shore with rescue lines with the assistance of the fire service.
A spokesman said: "If you are enjoying a day at the Promenade Park, please be aware of the dangers of entering the mud, particularly at low tide.
"If you do require assistance dial 999 and ask for either the coastguard or fire service."
