FOLLOWING the closure of the Halifax branch on Maldon High Street in 2023, the property is being sold at auction.
The freehold historic building sits right in the heart of Maldon Town Centre.
The building is set to go under the hammer on Thursday July 25, courtesy of Dedman Gray Auctions.
The auctions start at 12pm.
With a guide price of £275,000, it is described as an “excellent buy to let investment”.
It says further: “It is considered that the property could suit a variety of uses subject to the relevant permissions.”
At the time of the closure of the Halifax bank, the business said the reason for the closure was due to 71 per cent of their customers now using other ways of banking, such as online or over the phone.
The branch claimed that visitors to the branch had fallen in recent years, and it was closed on June 5.
There has been a surplus of banks closing in towns and cities over recent years, with another closure due to happen in Harwich in October.
The concern regarding these closures is access for elderly people who may struggle with technology and are unable to bank any other way apart from in person.
