A PROPOSED implementation of a 20mph zone speed limit order on various roads in Maldon is being put forward.
The reduced speed limit, proposed for various road south of Limebrook Way is looking to improve road safety for residents and pedestrians.
A statement reads: "The county council is proposing to implement and to introduce a 20mph Zone Speed Limit Order to reduce vehicular speeds and improve road safety for residents and pedestrians.
"It is Essex County Council’s policy that new housing estate roads are constructed to ensure, as far as is possible, that vehicle speeds are 24mph or below.
"This is done via the introduction of a 20mph zone and a variety of Physical measures.
"The roads on the estate have been constructed in accordance with this policy and a 20mph zone is proposed to reinforce the physical measures which include speed tables."
There is a total of 20 roads being affected as a result of this proposed implementation.
These include roads in and around Lancaster Avenue.
