MALDON'S United Reformed Church is set to host two authors in conversation, one of which is an international bestseller.

International success Sarah Perry is coming to the town later this year.

Sarah, who is Chancellor of the Essex, is known for writing hits such as The Essex Serpent, Melmoth, After Me Comes the Flood, and the non-fiction Essex Girls.

She was also the headline act for the Essex Book Festival at the university in June and is a winner of the Waterstone’s Book of the Year Awards and the British Book Awards.

Kate Sawyer, who Sarah Perry will be in conversation with, worked as an actor and producer and wrote several short films before turning her hand to fiction.

She is the author of two novels, most recently the critically acclaimed, Waterstones Fiction Book of The Month, This Family.

Sarah will be discussing her new novel entitled 'Enlightenment' with Kate, a story of love and astronomy told over twenty years through the lives of two improbable best friends.

The event was originally meant to take place on July 4, but will now take place on September 19.

Tickets for the event cost £6 and you can pre-order Sarah's book for £20.
