A WOMAN tragically died and two children have been left seriously injured after a crash in a major Essex road yesterday.
Officers were called to the A132, Burnham Road, in South Woodham Ferrers, shortly before 4pm yesterday following a crash involving a lorry and a car.
Emergency services attended and the road was closed in both directions between Rettendon Turnpike and the KFC roundabout while police were on the scene.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a woman, 60s, sadly, died at the scene.
Her passengers, two children, were taken to hospital after they both sustained serious injuries.
A 41-year-old man, the driver of the lorry, has been arrested and is assisting with Essex Police enquiries. He remains in custody.
A spokesman for the force said: "We continue to appeal to anyone who may have witnessed anything or have any dashcam footage to contact us.
