CROWDS flocked to the popular U-Fest Community Festival in Maldon, as it returned, aiming to raise awareness for health and wellbeing organised by Maldon District Council.

Promenade Park was flooded with visitors as countless stands dotted around the park offered services and helpful advice.

Organised by Maldon District Council, they hoped for the people of Maldon to come together and celebrate life with live music and plenty more entertainment.

Chairman of Maldon District Council, Kevin Lagan, who was in attendance, said: “I've been absolutely blown away. Last year was a wonderful event, but this is like success on steroids for us.

“You just look at the people who are walking around and the engagement from the youth that we've got is brilliant. I'm absolutely taken back and I'm grateful for everybody who's turned out to support the event.

“When we designed the concept of the festival, we wanted to have a free festival that promoted both physical and mental health and well-being.

“It also promotes people to walk and be out in the open, look at nature. The pathways this can give people to better health and the support that's out there as a community event, I think is second to none."

The event was filled with people both young and old, with an array of community engagement and a feel good atmosphere.

On top of the health and wellbeing stalls and advice, there was stalls from the emergency services, Essex County Council and plenty more.

An overall success for Maldon District Council with a huge turn out.
