MALDON'S Food and Drink Festival returned with big success as the festival played host to hundreds of people in the Promenade Park.

With more than 500 people attending over the two days on Sunday and Monday, the festival was well received by residents.

Organiser Karen Rowles said: "The event went really well, it was a free event with 500 people across the two days the atmosphere was great.

“There were 50 store holders with food, there were bouncy castles and rides as well.

“Everybody had a great time, it was a bit windy but apart from that it was lovely and sunny.”

The free event gave people the opportunity to try free food samples from around the world, musical performances and alcoholic and non alcoholic drink samples.

The bank holiday special was also dog friendly and provided entertainment for all the family.

The festival is the sister event to Colchester's Food and Drink Festival, which has been taking place for 25 years at Colchester Castle Park.

Taking place between 10am and 5pm on both Sunday and Monday the event gave people plenty of time to try out everything the festival had to offer.
