THE annual Burnham Carnival made its way through the town on Saturday with fun for all.
The town saw a variety of entertainment running from 10am all the way to the evening, with well-decorated floats, fairground rides, and community-run stalls catering to the needs of thousands of people.
Some of the many activities throughout the day included quizzes, fancy dress competitions, Tug of War, 999 Races which saw emergency services compete head-to-head, darts, pool, bowls and Bingo.
Children also enjoyed bubbles, spinning plates, hula hoops, and fancy-dress competitions categorised by age.
The carnival’s famous illuminated procession started at 7.30pm at the clocktower, before following up the High Street to finish at the bottom of Dunkirk Road into Orchard Road.
The carnival dates back as early as the 1800s, developing from a Torchlight Carnival Procession for November 5 to a festive celebration after the World Wars.
Many committees have contributed to building the carnival up to one of the most successful carnivals in the South East of England today.
