The Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival has been hailed a "record-breaking success" after more than 500 people took part.
The 10-day event, which ran from September 27 to October 6, saw 511 walkers explore the Maldon district on guided walks.
The festival offered a variety of routes, from gentle coastal strolls to challenging woodland hikes.
Maldon District Council leader Richard Siddall said: "With over 500 walkers taking part in 34 different guided walks, the event exceeded expectations and also highlighted the growing popularity of outdoor recreation and eco-tourism in the Maldon district.
"Over 3,500 miles were walked during the festival, which is the equivalent of walking to New York.
"The influx of visitors during the festival provided a welcome boost to our local economy, benefitting hotels, pubs, cafes, shops and visitor attractions across the district."
The event was organised by Maldon District Council in collaboration with The Maldon Tourism Group and partners, including the National Trust, RSPB, Ramblers Association, and Essex Waterways.
James Burrell-Cook, chair of the Maldon Tourism Group, said: "The Saltmarsh Coast Walking Festival is more than just a walking event - it’s a celebration of everything that makes the Maldon District special."
