A POPULAR tea room is to open a new site near Coggeshall next week after joining forces with the Markshall Estate.

In 2014, Andrea Salisbury and her family opened the very first Mrs Salisbury’s Famous Team Rooms on Bright’s Path in Maldon.

The original café had space for just 28 people, so in December 2020 the family moved the café into the building next door – where it stands today – with seven rooms and a heated outdoor area.

Last year, in February last year, a second tea room opened in Wickham Bishops at the former Mitre pub.

The Salisbury family also have a kiosk in Maldon’s Promenade Park.

Now a new tea room is opening on the Markshall Estate.

“The diary is also open to bookings and we can't wait to host all our lovely guests at this gorgeous new venue.”

The new tea room will open on October 21 at the country park, which boasts gardens, an arboretum and lakes, as well as woodland walks and a play area.

Markshall chief exec Dave Finkle said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Mrs Salisbury's Famous Tea Rooms to Markshall.

“This partnership marks an exciting new chapter for us, and we believe it will be a fantastic addition to our unique offerings.

“Having such a well-loved and renowned tea room on-site will not only enhance the experience for our existing visitors but will also attract new guests who may not have discovered the beauty of our arboretum and gardens.

“We’re confident that Mrs Salisbury’s will become a destination in its own right, encouraging people to take time to enjoy delicious food while soaking in the stunning landscape around them.

“For our charity, this is a wonderful opportunity to grow and continue our work in conservation, education and community engagement.

“We can’t wait to see the positive impact this collaboration will have and look forward to welcoming visitors to enjoy both the tea room and the natural beauty of Markshall."
