A MALDON shop has been shut temporarily for a major refurbishment.
The East of England Co-op store, in Cross Road, has been closed as part of a £5 million investment by the company to revamp 12 of its stores across the region.
The refurbishment aims to enhance the shopping experience for members and customers, while also improving the store’s environmental impact.
One of the key upgrades includes the installation of eco-friendly refrigeration units, which are expected to reduce the store’s carbon footprint by saving up to 14 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually - equivalent to the energy used by more than 2,000 average UK homes.
Alongside these environmental improvements, the revamped Maldon store will introduce a range of new services.
Shoppers will be able to enjoy Tango Ice Blast, Fwip Ice Cream, and coffee-to-go, as well as fresh goods from an in-store bakery.
The store’s layout and design will also reflect the updated look and feel seen in other recently refurbished East of England Co-op locations, such as Chelmsford, Bishop’s Stortford, and Kelvedon.
The East of England Co-op Food store in Maldon will reopen its doors at 6am on Thursday, November 14.
