THOUSANDS enjoyed Maldon’s annual firework display on the Promenade Park.
Maldon is known for its incredible award-winning display, and this year it was a sell-out success.
Gates opened at 5.30pm followed by music and a bonfire, with people also enjoying the Winter Warmers Bar which served mulled wine, spiced cider and hot toddies.
The successful event was organised by the Rotary Club of Maldon, which provides support to the community through fundraising, organising events such as the fireworks, and assisting other organisations and local schools, including Plume Academy.
Brian Farrington, chairman of the Maldon Fireworks organising committee, said: “We are thrilled and grateful for all the incredible support this year as we took the decision to increase capacity and were once again sold out with 7,000 tickets sold by lunchtime on Saturday.
“This means we will be able to distribute even more funds to Rotary and Essex charities and in tough times like this, it’s amazing.
“We couldn’t take the risk of putting on such huge events without our sponsors and to have a new headline sponsor, First Bus Essex, on board for 2024 was key to delivering such a great night out.”
Mr Farrington added: “BBC Essex’s Matt Mackay supported the event, both in the lead-up and on the night itself.
’His involvement is crucial in helping us raise awareness and achieve our fundraising goals and a huge thanks to our other major sponsors including, Maldon-based TFP Financial Planning and the many other local companies who joined us including Borough Carpets, GSM Motor Mechanics, Heating Oil Direct and Events Factor Ltd, and we thank them for their generous support.
“Star Fireworks delivered a memorable evening with spectacular fireworks.
“This award-winning team orchestrates displays on the Thames in London at New Year, and we are proud to bring them to Maldon.
“We thank the community for continuing to support the event, enabling us to contribute to many local charities and we hope this year will see more than £25,000 distributed to good causes.”
