THE team behind the popular Maldon Mud Race distributed the whopping £28,000 it raised this year amongst "inspiring" local charities.
The presentation evening was held at Plume Academy this month, where many local charities, local regular sponsors and potential sponsors were invited by the small team of volunteers who deliver the Race.
Maldon Mud Race were “proud” to distribute cheques totalling more than £28,000.
Brian Farrington, Chairman of the Maldon Mud Race committee, said: “We get together with sponsors and charities once a year to find out the latest about the charities and to issue funds.
“It’s an interesting and enjoyable evening for us all, and to meet the teams dealing with many difficult issues on a daily basis is very humbling and inspiring.
“We are thrilled to be able to help them in the work.”
Beneficiaries included Essex Wildlife, Essex Mind, Tim Bowdidge Foundation, Citizens Advice Maldon, Julie Taylor Bleed Bags, Farleigh Hospice, Army Benevolent Fund, Daniel Wilkinson Foundation, Cinnamon Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Action for Family Carers, Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, Basics Essex, David Randall Foundation, Little Havens Hospice, Friends and Neighbours Foundation Maldon.
Funds also went to Maldon Primary School, All Saints Primary School, Wentworth Primary School, Heybridge Primary School, St Francis Primary School, and Plume Academy.
Mr Farrington continued: “If you are a local company and would like to showcase your business, the Maldon Mud Race would love to talk to you.
“The more support we have, the more money we can distribute annually.
“The race costs over £30,000 to deliver and we are working towards covering these costs with sponsorship so that we can give away an ever-larger percentage of funds raised.
“We are so grateful to companies like PGR Timber, TFP Financial Planning, First Bus, Borough Carpets and Events Factor and we hope many more will come on board in 2025.
“We are grateful to Plume Academy for their support, both in running and raising funds this year and allowing us to use their premises for this event.”
The next Maldon Mud Race will take place on May 4, 2025.
