A NEW grassroots music venue in Maldon enjoyed great success in its inaugural event.

The new venue, at Bark Café at Madison Heights, in Park Drive, is showcasing original music to the town.

The venue, which aims to foster a “relaxed atmosphere for the community”, enjoyed its first event on Saturday.

The show was a resounding success, drawing a capacity crowd that soaked in the dynamic performances of Gothanova and the Bosscats.

The night kicked off with the captivating Androo Arnold, better known as Gothanova, who took to the stage in his signature crushed velvet suit.

For 25 minutes, he mesmerised the audience with his original, self-penned tunes, interspersed with his trademark dry humour and a captivatingly calming delivery.

The Mighty Bosscats then took to the stage to show an impressive repertoire of 24 original tracks, showcasing some of the best of their 15-album catalogue.

The trio – Matt Gillam, Mark Hall and Richard Townend – provided an explosive and masterful performance filled with catchy melodies and thought-provoking lyrics.

Mundon-based Mr Townend, the mastermind behind organising the gig, was delighted with the event’s success.

He said: “It’s great to see so many people really enjoying original live music at the grassroots level.

“Many original venues are struggling or closing, but this event truly hit the mark.

“We plan to host more shows and even a couple of festivals next year to promote live music— the more local acts, the merrier.

“So, if you're interested in performing, reach out to us! Keep an eye on the Mighty Bosscats Facebook group for upcoming details."

The Mighty Bosscats will be returning for an intimate acoustic performance on December 14, a real contrast to their electrifying full-band show.

Tickets are available now, and they'll be joined by the talented Tom Harbour Band as support.
