THE famous opening scenes of a Charles Dickens novel are to be recreated on the marshlands of Tollesbury for a major BBC production.
Actors including Gillian Anderson, Ray Winstone and David Suchet are starring in Great Expectations, being shown as part of the corporation’s celebration of the birth of Dickens in 2012.
The stars of the screen could be heading to the village as part of the filming, which is expected to mainly be taking place around the RSPB area between Monday and August 27. Scenes being filmed in Tollesbury are believed to be the opening shots of the story.
