FOUR fire crews battled a field blaze in Tillingham for more than two hours. 

Firefighters from stations in Tillingham, Burnham, Maldon, and South Woodham Ferrers were called to Tillingham Road, yesterday afternoon at 12.30pm.

The service had received reports of stubble field fire and, once at the scene, crews found the fire was affecting two fields measuring approximately 400m x 400m. 

After managing to safely surround the blaze, firefighters extinguished the fire by 2.50pm.

Crews re-visited the scene later in the evening to check for any hot spots or reignition.
