HEYBRIDGE SWIFTS bowed out of the Championship Manager Cup at the quarter-final stage after losing 2-0 at home to Dulwich Hamlet.
The Ryman League division one south side scored two late goals to dump Swifts out of the League Cup competition, at Scraley Road, on Tuesday night.
Dulwich performed well in the first half but they were either wasteful in front of goal or denied by goalkeeper, Ollie Sanders.
The game continued as an even affair in the second half, although Luke Callander went close for Swifts with 20 minutes to go when he fired over.
Swifts were left furious with nine minutes remaining when their penalty appeals were rejected, after Reece Morgan appeared to be tripped in the area.
And five minutes later, Dulwich Hamlet broke the deadlock through Ray Powell.
Nyren Clunis followed up to score a second for the visitors in stoppage-time after a free-kick had hit a post, to end Swifts’ run in the competition.
MALDON AND TIPTREE’S quarter-final tie at Fleet Town, in the same competition, was postponed.
