AN inter-club Kwik Cricket tournament will be one of the many highlights when Maldon Cricket Club hosts its Rock Up For Randall event, on Sunday.

The competition will take place in the morning of the annual charity event at Drapers Farm, in aid of the David Randall Foundation (DRF).

DRF was formed by Maldon CC members in February 2012 when long-standing club member David Randall was diagnosed as having terminal cancer at the age of 27.

The charity supports people with terminal or life-limiting illnesses, along with individuals who pursue their ambitions in sport or music but may be held back by their financial situation.

David rose through the ranks at Maldon CC, becoming a regular first-team player and opening the batting with Ashes-winning captain and DRF patron Alastair Cook.

His two main passions were cricket and music, which forms the main focus of Sunday’s event.

After the inter-club tournament, there will be a friendly game against David’s old school friends at Felsted in the afternoon.

There will also be sideshows throughout the day, including inflatables, a rodeo bull, raffles, a balloon race, a BBQ and three steel bands.

Six String Makeover will provide the live music in the evening.

More information on the auction lots can be found at www.davidrandallfoundation.org and on Twitter (@ArkleInspire).

Parking is free and admission is by throwing a donation into a bucket at the entrance.
