Five Lakes Seniors played their fifth round of this season’s Winter League.
The format was a three-ball Texas Scramble stableford, played off 1/7 combined handicaps, with individual points carried over to the final two subsequent rounds.
The competition was played on the Lakes course in calm, unseasonably mild and sunny conditions.
The water-saturated course required preferred lies to be taken through the green and all bunkers were deemed GUR.
With the ball having limited carry and virtually no roll, scoring was not easy but three of the seven teams returned more than 40 points.
With an impressive return of 42 points, the team of Peter Ivey, Mike Martin and Tony Choat won this round with a narrow one point cushion from the team in second place. Main results: 1 Peter Ivey, Mike Martin and Tony Choat 42 pts, 2 David Owen, Ken Laight and Ron Colbert 41 points (ocb), 3 Peter Gee, Clive Jenner and Alan Blois 41 pts.
In the nearest the pin competition, Tony Tyler took the award at the fourth hole and Jim Fern at the 16th.
