THE Forrester Park veterans winter league concluded with the completion of the seventh round.

With 20 points available for each round and the best five rounds counting for each pair, the winners with a near-perfect score of 96 points were Bob Nice and Jeff Atkinson, who had a ten-shot margin over the second pair, Dave Curtis and Barry Trickett.

Mike Donovan and Frank Porter were third with 82 points, with Terry Shuttleworth and Harry Whiteman in fourth place on 81 and Bryan Bowring and Kevin Royan fifth with 79.

This week’s competition, a stableford, was won by Mike Manning with 37 points, beating Peter Waknell on countback.

Trevor Baines beat Ron Adlington on countback for third place, both with 36.

The ladies played the fifth round of their 12-hole winter league which was won by Josie Stevens with 24 points.

Jane Collier beat Dawn Marriot on countback for second place, both with 20 points.

This week the men’s Sunday competition was a two-man Texas scramble, which was won by Clive Walby and Steve Brewington with nett 62.8.

Roy Sayer and Simon Collins took second place with nett 63.0 with Paul Messenger and Paul Beckwith in third place with nett 64.2.
