THE final round of Five Lakes Winter League took place on the championship Lakes course.
Two groups scored 39 points, Barry Boniface and Peter Dunnet along with overall contenders Phil Robson and Graham Doherty.
Third place went to captain Nigel Popper and Richard Hardy-King with 41 points.
The final two places were decided on countback, both with 43 points.
Even though a magnificent hole-in-one was scored by Neil Shinwell in his partnership with Frank Taylor they were pushed into second slot by eventual winners of the sixth round, Andy Clover and Matt Ponder, scoring 24 points on their back nine holes.
Overall fourth place went to Charlie Powell and Joe Hart with 196 points. Third place went to Clive Taylor and Dave Chignall on the same score with a better last round and the final two places were decided on the final round, with Shinwell’s ace on the 16th par three being the deciding factor, leaving Robson and Doherty on 203 points to take second.
However, with 209 points from their best five scores, Shinwell and Taylor are winners of the Perry Trophy for 2016.
Birdie balls were won by Dean Vass, Barry Boniface and Graham Doherty and obviously Neil Shinwell with his hole-in-one on the 16th.
