CLIVE Weir claimed victory at the Crowne Plaza Invitational Members Golf Day.
The men’s and overall competition for the trophy was a competitive affair and Richard Hardy-King, on 38 points, and Brian Earey, 39 points, were just outside the main prizes.
Third place went to Charlie Powell with 40 points, 19 on his back nine holes meant he lost out to his father Les, taking second prize, on the same score, with 22 on his back nine.
Winner and holder of the Crowne Plaza Trophy for 2016 was Weir with 42 points.
The ladies prize was won by Sue Gee with 31 points with Carole Lewis following with a respectable 28 points.
The ladies’ section also played a blind pairs nine-hole stableford on March 17.
The winners were Nancy Seabrook and Di Arnold, with Sue Pearson and Margaret Weir second.
This competition was followed by a Saree Draping demonstration to raise funds for the Lady Captain’s Charity The Mary Barron CLC CH (care for cancer patients) for a new cancer care unit in Colchester.
